چکیده

A simple and efficient method was introduced for the high-conversion preparation of graphene oxide (GO) from large graphite flakes (average flake size1⁄4100 μm) using a simplified Hummer's method. Natural reducing agents such as lemon juice and vinegar were compared with hydrazine (N2H4) as potential reducing agents. Graphene was prepared by chemical reduction of GO because this method was low cost and could be used for large-scale graphene production. This one-pot graphene preparation was performed at room temperature. Different degrees of oxidation of graphite flakes were obtained by stirring graphite in a mixture of sulfuric acid and potassium permanganate at different oxidation times, and highly exfoliated GO sheets were produced. GO was subsequently reduced effectively by lemon juice, a new, green, and potential reducing agent with pH 2.3. This reduced GO exhibited a high electrical conductance of 24.6 μS attributed to its higher C/O ratio (E8:2) compared with other samples. & 2015 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l. Green chemistry approach for the synthesis of biocompatible graphene

BACKGROUND Graphene is a single-atom thick, two-dimensional sheet of hexagonally arranged carbon atoms isolated from its three-dimensional parent material, graphite. One of the most common methods for preparation of graphene is chemical exfoliation of graphite using powerful oxidizing agents. Generally, graphene is synthesized through deoxygenation of graphene oxide (GO) by using hydrazine, whi...

Green preparation of reduced graphene oxide for sensing and energy storage applications

Preparation of graphene from chemical reduction of graphene oxide (GO) is recognized as one of the most promising methods for large-scale and low-cost production of graphene-based materials. This study reports a new, green, and efficient reducing agent (caffeic acid/CA) for GO reduction. The CA-reduced GO (CA-rGO) shows a high C/O ratio (7.15) that is among the best rGOs prepared with green red...

Pulicaria glutinosa Extract: A Toolbox to Synthesize Highly Reduced Graphene Oxide-Silver Nanocomposites

A green, one-step approach for the preparation of graphene/Ag nanocomposites (PE-HRG-Ag) via simultaneous reduction of both graphene oxide (GRO) and silver ions using Pulicaria glutinosa plant extract (PE) as reducing agent is reported. The plant extract functionalizes the surfaces of highly reduced graphene oxide (HRG) which helps in conjugating the Ag NPs to HRG. Increasing amounts of Ag prec...
